Mi capita di leggere, di tanto in tanto, lunghe liste di suggerimenti per diventare più creativi. Altre volte, invece, autori più audaci si divertono a stilare elenchi di accorgimenti per ostacolare ed inibire le potenzialità creative di individui e gruppi.
Traendo spunto da alcune acute osservazioni di Michael Michalko, ho provato anch’io ad individuare alcuni degli atteggiamenti che contribuiscono a soffocare gli slanci creativi al lavoro.
Ne è uscito questo breve elenco semiserio:
1. Metodo infallibile
Non mettere mai in discussione il tuo modo di lavorare, di interagire con le persone, di prendere decisioni. Se ha funzionato finora, perché dovresti cambiare? Se funziona con te, allora funzionerà anche con gli altri. Obbliga tutti i tuoi collaboratori a lavorare con il tuo metodo, non tollerare alcuna critica, non accettare alcun suggerimento. Che cosa possono saperne gli altri, se il metodo è tuo?
2. Collaboratori (e buoi) dei paesi tuoi
Stai alla larga da persone curiose, originali e creative. Se devi assumere qualcuno, scegli dei collaboratori pignoli, metodici, abituati ad eseguire le direttive e a non “uscire dal seminato”. Se qualcuno, poi, fa troppe domande, chiedigli di andarsene …
3. Patti chiari, collaborazione lunga
Scoraggia domande e libere iniziative, di’ alle persone esattamente che cosa devono fare e, soprattutto, come devono farlo. Se qualcuno tenta di introdurre nuove modalità, ricordagli errori e fallimenti passati (anche se non sono i suoi). L’esperienza servirà pure a qualcosa …
4. Comunicazione “no frills”
Non perdere tempo ad ascoltare le persone, tieni sempre la porta del tuo ufficio chiusa. Se qualcuno dovesse, comunque, entrare, assumi una postura scontrosa (braccia incrociate, fronte accigliata, sguardo arcigno, ecc.) che comunichi chiaramente che non vuoi essere disturbato. Dopo un po’ desisteranno …
5. Il lavoro è una cosa seria
Non dare mai feedback positivi, non offrire riconoscimenti e gratificazioni a chi ha svolto un buon lavoro: ha fatto solo il suo dovere. Scoraggia, tutte le volte che puoi, battute, storielle e qualsiasi altra forma di umorismo: non siamo qui per ridere, ma per lavorare …
6. Non cedere a nuove idee
Se i tuoi collaboratori ti propongono un’idea innovativa, fai presente che non può funzionare. Se ti provano che può funzionare, ribatti che è irrilevante. Se ti dimostrano che è rilevante, evidenzia che è pericolosa. Se ti dicono che è sicura, fai notare che non è commerciabile. Se ti dimostrano che è vendibile, rispondi che, appena possibile, creerai un comitato di valutazione per studiarla.
7. La creatività non è per noi
Non comprare e, ovviamente, non leggere alcun libro sul pensiero creativo, non sprecare soldi con corsi e seminari sulla creatività. Se qualche dipendente ne cita o ne propone qualcuno, bofonchia qualche commento incomprensibile e poi allontanati velocemente.
8. Sguardo fisso alla meta
Non prestare attenzione a ciò che accade al di fuori della tua azienda, non analizzare le evoluzioni del mercato, né le azioni della concorrenza. Se, per caso, l’azienda dovesse perdere competitività, attribuisci la colpa all’economia globale, al prezzo del petrolio (ma anche dei diamanti), alle politiche economiche, ecc.

If you’re still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you’ll know which is right for you.

Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.
